Saree Mantra: 3 Simple ways to style your Sarees

The 6 yards long piece of cloth embracing your body in the most elegant and ethnic manner, have been a symbol of our Indian culture. The ritual of wearing saree has been coming along since generations. Different trends may keep flowing in or out but nothing can beat the trend of wearing a saree! There are numerous bloggers who have worn saree in hell lot of different ways. This versatile piece of cloth can be poured into any style, which does not have to go with the trend every time. Slipping into a saree is a different vibe overall, it gives woman the sense of confidence and there is no doubt that we Indian women love to flaunt our aanchal. I have styled 4 sarees that you can very comfortably style on your own.

1. The Elegant Way

Cotton sarees are always comfortable in the summers. They are easier to style and carry. The one that I am wearing in the picture below is a black cotton saree with red borders. This saree has become one of my favourite because of its simplicity and smooth texture. I am a person who opts for simplicity when it comes to sarees as they are easy to style and wear in the terrible hot summers of Kolkata. This saree gives me such a pure Bengali vibes with its elegance. There are no embroidery works on the material but you will see numerous thin whitish greyish lines all over it. I feel this adds more to the beauty of this material. The borders are of red, which is more on the maroonish side. I absolutely love the colour contrast going on all over this saree.

To match with the overall vibe of this saree I have paired a simple but not so simple blouse with it. It has a beautiful ruffled detail happening all around the neck and the cuffs of both the sleeves. At the back of the blouse, it has several brown false buttons. However, at the front it has those normal hooks. These ruffled detailing in particular gives the blouse a retro vibe. The best part is that you can wear this blouse on both the sides and both looks stylish. For this picture, I have worn it as backside in front. However, I forgot to take a picture of the blouse so could not insert it.

I have paired some minimal oxidized silver jewelleries because I didn’t want to kill the elegancy accessorizing a lot. Honestly, I have an unconditional love for oxidized silver jewelleries. It is very rare that you will find me wearing anything golden. The earrings have very beautiful embellishments on it and have paired it with so many outfits previously. It goes well with almost all eastern pieces. On the other hand, this oxidized long chain is my absolute favourite. The design on the neckpiece is very antique and vintage. I feel this to be something that can be styled with many Indo-Western outfits. You may also wear a silver ring to experiment with the look.

2. Simple Festive Way

For the second look, I wore this simple yet beautiful georgette olive green saree. It has silver threaded works in circular patterns all over the saree. Moreover, it has a super gorgeous aanchal with silver thread detailing. This saree gives a very pretty and chic vibes. The material is comfortable even during summers as I have myself worn this twice out in the sun. These types of saree are also appropriate for small festivities. I paired a simple golden sleeveless blouse with the saree. For these types of sarees you can also wear something silver. The best part of this kinda saree is that you can always style it according to choice. If you want, you can spice up the look with embroidered blouses or you can just go simple with the saree and both will look good because of the design on the saree.

Keeping it simple, I have just paired a big silver earring. The best thing about silver jewelleries is that it makes any look so aesthetic and boho. This is the sole reason I love silver jewelleries so much. I can literally pair any silver jewelry with any outfit, be it eastern or western! My love for silver jewelleries is eternal! However, you can add any silver oxidized ring to enhance the look. For the blouse, I paired a simple golden sleeveless blouse as golden blouses can be worn with almost every sarees. However, you can also pair a silver blouse as the aanchal has silver thread works all over it.

For the makeup part, I have avoided too much makeup but I have focused on my eyes. I went for a nude makeup look with smookey eyes. For the lids and transition colour I choose three different shades of brown. Near the liner area, I smoked out a black Kajal and then blended it with the brown shade on the lids. Next, I applied kajal on my lower lash line a little bit deeply as I love to apply my Kajal deeply because it kinda accentuates my eyes to the fullest. You can also check out my Instagram profile where I have uploaded a detailed tutorial on how to get these smokey eye look. The rest I have applied a pink nude shade lipstick. I loved how elegant the makeup turned out to be!

3. The Sophisticated Way

Adding some colour this time, I choose this beautiful orange and green mix saree to create a comfortable as well as a sophisticated look. The saree is mostly of this beautiful orange colour with small detailing of both light as well as deep green colour. Taking a close look, you will notice small four-petal flowers kinda design with golden threads all over the body of the saree. There are a lot happening on the borders of the saree thus, enhancing the beauty of this piece even more. The material is very comfortable and does not make you feel very hot. Also, these type of sarees are suitable for almost every occasion. It is just a matter of how you will style it. Hence, I decided to style this once in a sophisticated way. For this look, again, I have used the same golden sleeveless blouse as the previous one. However, for such a saree, an orange blouse will also steal the show.

Now, talking about the most beautiful part of this saree, which is the aanchal. This particular area is beautifully covered by multiple designs of both the shades of green. This is the only reason why this saree has caught my eyes. The design going on in the aanchal is different and unique from the ones that are there on the rest of the saree. The different colours like orange, green, golden, yellow are more prominent here. You can definitely wear this kinda sarees to a lot of places and occasion. I just added a sunflower on my bun to bring out the overall look to be more aesthetic maybe!

Now coming to my favourite, that is, the jewellery part, I wore this beautiful green jhumkas. I could have gone for something golden on my ears but contrast is the name for game changer! Also, the saree has a lot of designs with green colours so I chose to match my earrings with that. However, these sorts of earrings are available in almost all the local shops in Bara Bazaar, New Market, Gariahat. Therefore, you can definitely get one for yourself easily. Nevertheless, there are varieties of colours for these earrings, pastel colours as well. For the neck part, I chose to keep it empty, as it would have been too much. Also, I wanted to keep this amazing saree as the centre of attention and adding a neckpiece could have been a barrier. In order to exaggerate the look I paired a golden ring on the finger. I chose golden to compliment the yellow golden colours on the saree. You can also wear something contrasting. This happens to be one of my favourite rings for its unique design. If you look closely, there is the face of Maa Durga in the centre of it. Moreover, its sides have been provided with minuter detailing. Now you know why I love this ring!

I did not go for anything loud for the makeup and chose to keep it simple yet pleasing. Hence, I did a slight orangish eye makeup with thin eyeliner and some mascara on. For the lips, I wore a brown nude lipstick. This is my current favourite from the brand Coloressence. Now adding my most favourite part of the makeup, that is a highlighter. I absolutely love applying highlighters for its glow and shine. For hair, I went for a low bun with little bit of hair strands coming out in the front. This is one hairstyle that is simply and easily doable with any Indian outfits. However, there are lot more hairstyles that you can definitely try with this look.
